Neptune Dynamics developed an Automatic Feeder to fit both the Neptune HD1S Sex Sorting machines and the Neptune RHO popping machines (both machines use the same infeed belt). The auto feeder is used for both for sex sorting fresh herring and opening thawed fish.
The 1999, 2000 & 2001 seasons proved conclusively that the Neptune OTTO Autofeeder works in production. An OTTO/RHO combination processes, with 2 operators, the same amount of fish as a standard RHO with 4 operators, even though the machine speeds continue to climb.
In summary, we said the Neptune OTTO machine would operate with a Neptune RHO at a throughput of 250 actual fish per minute with two operators and the reality is it will do 300+ fish per minute. A throughput of 280 actual fish per minute is readily achievable.
